MADISONVILLE, Ky. – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has asked the Kentucky State Police to monitor a closed interchange at the east end of the KY 425 Henderson Bypass. A section of the KY 425 Henderson Bypass and connecting ramps at the U.S. 41/I-69 Henderson Exit 10 interchange have been closed for concrete replacement and rehabilitation work since August 10.
In recent weeks there have been several instances of motorists attempting to drive through the closed work area. Several vehicles have driven around Road Closed barricades and endangered workers by attempting to travel through the construction site at normal highway speeds. Several SEMI rucks that have attempted to drive through the work area have been forced back up extended distances after driving around barricades and entering the work area.
Kentucky State Police will be monitoring the work are and issuing appropriate citations for violators.
This work zone closure includes the U.S. 41 intersection at the east end of the KY 425 Henderson Bypass and KY 2084 extending northeastward to U.S. 41 mile point 11.525 at the end of the connecting ramps in the I-69/U.S. 41/KY 425 interchange.
There is a marked detour, as well as several options to self-detour around this closure at the east end of the KY 425 Bypass.
Westate Construction of Hopkinsville is the prime contractor on this $1,459,761 highway improvement project. The concrete rehab work is running ahead of the original target completion date of November 15.
