HENDERSON, Ky. – The City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department is inviting community groups to once again volunteer to hand out candy to costumed children at the award-winning East End Halloween Extravaganza.
Last year more than 1,500 participants attended this event.
This year’s event will be held on Sunday, Oct. 27, starting at 2:30 p.m. The route will be the same, starting at the Audubon Kids Zone on the corner of Letcher and Powell streets and ending at the John F. Kennedy Community Center at 515 Alvasia St.
If you and/or your group are interested in participating you can contact Trace Stevens at the City of Henderson Parks and Recreation Department at firstname.lastname@example.org or 270-831-1274 to reserve your spot, or spots, along the route.
Return participants will be assigned the same spot this year unless a different location is requested.
Stevens said he expects 2,000 participants this year.
In its first year, the Halloween Extravaganza won an award from the Kentucky Recreation & Parks Society.
“Thank you for all your help and your volunteer spirit in making this a remarkable and memorable event for Henderson’s children,” the parks director said.
