HENDERSON, Ky. -- Here's your early notice that Henderson County Recycling is planning a waste tire collection event on May 31, June 1 and June 2.
The collection site is at Henderson County Recycling, 398 Sam Ball Way just off Airline Road, but tires can be dropped off ONLY during the hours of the event.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 31 and June 1 and 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. June 2. Tires dropped off outside the hours of the event will be considered illegal dumping. Surveillance cameras will be activated.
Tires that WILL be accepted are on or off the rim truck, light truck, passenger, implement, lawn tractor, bicycle, motorcycle, golf cart and similar tires.
Types of tires that will NOT be accepted: Foam-filled tires, calcium-filled tires, off-road construction (OTR) tires, solid tires with or without press-on rims, any tires with a bead greater than 1 3/4 inches.
Tire retailers, scrap/salvage yards and recycle businesses are ineligible to participate.
The event is being hosted and sponsored by Henderson County government in partnership with the Kentucky Division of Waste Management.
