HENDERSON, Ky. -- The Preston Arts Center has announced a new programming venture that will bring a two-concert Jazz Series to Henderson.
The Jazz On-stage Series will offer music by the award-winning University of Louisville Faculty Ensemble and the University of Evansville Jazz Band.
On Friday, Jan. 26, the University of Louisville Faculty Jazz ensemble will play a tribute to the music of Miles Davis featuring Michael Tracy on saxophone, Ansyn Banks on trumpet, Gabe Evens on piano, Chris Fitzgerald on bass and Mike Hyman on drums.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. The Castle High School Jazz band will open for the U of L ensemble with a new piece of music.
The UofL Faculty Jazz Ensemble actively performs on campus, regionally and internationally. Its members have shared the stage and recording studios with jazz masters and emerging artists. The Ensemble’s repertoire features new compositions and arrangements written especially for the group by its members and other composers, as well as established literature from throughout the jazz idiom.
The series continues on Saturday, Feb. 3, when the University of Evansville Jazz band gives an encore performance of their wildly successful tribute to Duke Ellington. This 22-piece band rocked the U of E campus back in November with a sold-out performance.
All tickets will be $10. Tickets for both performances will go on sale on Jan. 10. For more information call 270-831-9800 or email email@example.com.
