HENDERSON, Ky. -- Students in grades K-12 are invited to design a poster for the 29th-annual Ohio River Sweep.
Two posters will be used to create promotions materials for the next Ohio River Sweep, which is Saturday, June 16, 2018.
Prizes will be awarded to 15 winners:
One grand prize: $500.
One T-Shirt Design winner: $500.
Thirteen Grade Level winners: $50.
The Grand Prize winner's school also will received $100 to buy art supplies.
Entries must be postmarked by Dec. 15.
River sweep is a volunteer, one-day cleanup project for the Ohio River that covers more than 3,000 miles of shore line in six states: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Pennylvania and West Virginia.
Here are the contest rules:1.The poster contest is open to students (grades K-12) who live or attend school in a county along the Ohio River or students who live or attend school in a county that participates in the Ohio River Sweep along the Allegheny, Beaver, Monongahela, and Kentucky Rivers.2.Entries should be no larger than 24 x 36 inches and no smaller than 8 x 11 inches. Only flat artwork will be accepted. Do not fold or roll posters. Do not use glitter.3.All entries must be mailed or shipped to: Poster Contest, ORSANCO 5735 Kellogg Avenue Cincinnati, OH 452304.Entries must be postmarked by December 15, 2017. Winners will be notified in January 2018. One entry per student.5.Entries must have an entry label attached to the back of the poster. Each label must be legible and filled out completely. An entry form can be found at OhioRiverSweep.org and may be copied as necessary.6.Entries become property of the ORSANCO and will not be returned.7.Only original artwork will be accepted. Computer generated artwork will not be accepted. Winning artwork will be modified.Recommendations: Do not use black and white pencil drawings. Concentrate on the artwork instead of the wording or slogan. Use a positive theme.
