OVAL hosting Native American Dinner Forum on March 16

HENDERSON, Ky. -- Ohio Valley Art League will host a Native American Dinner/Forum featuring keynote speaker Dennis Banks on March 16 in McCormick Hall at Preston Arts Center.

Banks is a Native American leader, teacher, lecturer, activist and author and has been a longtime leader of the American Indian Movement, which he co-founded in 1968 with Native Americans in Minneapolis. He is an Anishinaabe born on Leech Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota.

Banks will speak about the future of the Native American people and will answer questions about such subjects as his role in Union County's Slack Farm incident and current legalities with the Lakota pipeline.

Tickets for the dinner and forum, $25 each, can be purchased at the OVAL office, 230 Second St., or at Balfour Rings & Things, 121 N. Main St.

The Preston Arts Center (formerly Henderson Fine Arts Center) is located on the campus of Henderson Community College.
