Henderson Society of Art has a full calendar of spring events

HENDERSON, Ky. -- Henderson Society of Art has launched a new year with a full calendar of events from exhibits to workshops.

The HSA will have its annual open exhibit "A Fresh Perspective XXV" starting in April, once again at John James Audubon Park Museum. The opening reception and awards ceremony is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 18.

Dates and times to drop off art art 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 9, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, April 10.

All artists 18 years of age or older may submit two works of original art, which can be two- or three-dimensional and all mediums with the exception of photography.

Work must not be larger than 40 x 40 inches (including frame), completed within the last two years, framed and wired for hanging.

Sculptures (weight limit 30pounds) requiring a pedestal must be provided by the artist and approved by the Museum.

This exhibit is co-sponsored by Ohio Valley Art League and will run from April 19 to July 5.

Through Jan. 31: "Cotton & Clay" exhibit with artists Dierdre McConathy and Lisa Heidelbach at OVAL CitiCenter Gallery, 201 Second St.

Feb. 7-April 1: "Native American Collection" OVAL CitiCenter Gallery.

Feb. 21: "A Paint Around!", Planter's Cafe & Coffe Bar, 130 N. Main St.

Feb. 25-April 14: Owensboro Art Guild 55th Juried Exhibition, Owensboro Museum of Fine Art. Registration deadline: Feb. 11. Opening Awards Reception, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Registration form available at owensboroartguild.org. (No photography accepted.)

Feb. 26-April 9: "March Madness" exhibit at John James Audubon State Park Museum. Artist reception and awards, 5 p.m. March 9. Drop-off dates: 2-4:30 p.m. Feb. 15 and 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 16. Information: Kim McGrew-Liggett, kim.mcgrew@ky.gov, 270-827-1893.

March 19-April 1: "The Art of Well Being," First United Methodist Church, corner of Third and Green streets.
