Landfill to begin accepting credit, debit card payments

HENDERSON, Ky. – Starting Monday, Nov. 5, the City of Henderson Landfill will have the capability of accepting payment by credit card and debit card in addition to cash and check.

When a new fee schedule was instituted one year ago, the landfill was only able to accept cash and check. Proof of residency is still required. There is no extra charge for a credit or debit card transaction.

Fees are –

Transfer Station/Convenience Center (regular household trash):

  • No charge for Henderson City/County personal residences.
  • $38.75 per ton for businesses and out of Henderson County residents, with a minimum $10 charge plus state fee.

CD&D (construction debris, limbs, dirt, concrete and “top of the hill” material):

  • $5 for up to 400 pounds for Henderson City/County residential customers.
  • $25 per ton prorated for Henderson City/County residential customers.
  • $12 for up to 400 pounds for Henderson City/County commercial customers.
  • $60 per ton prorated for Henderson City/County commercial customers.
  • $18 for up to 400 pounds for out of Henderson County residents.
  • $90 per ton prorated for out of Henderson County residents.

The landfill reached capacity last year, so the charges were set to offset disposal fees and the cost of transporting CD&D material to the landfill in Daviess County.

The landfill is open Monday through Saturday starting at 7 a.m. Customers using the landfill need to be finished and out by 3:30 p.m.
